25 job openings in the PR and marketing world

This week’s featured openings are in Seattle, ranked the best city to find a job.

Seattle has more than rainy days and fuel for coffee addictions.

WalletHub rated Seattle the No. 1 city in the U.S. for jobs in 2015, so if you don’t mind overcast days and highly caffeinated neighbors, you might want to consider moving to the Pacific Northwest.

WalletHub analyzed 16 metrics from the 150 most-populated cities, including job opportunities, cost of living, annual incomes and unemployment rates. Des Moines, Iowa; Gilbert, Arizona; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Fremont, California; Chandler, Arizona; Omaha, Nebraska; Salt Lake City; Scottsdale, Arizona, and Plano, Texas, rounded out the list of the top 10 best cities to find a job.

The overall job market is looking good for soon-to-be graduates. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, almost 80 percent of recruiters are looking to hire workers with bachelor’s degrees.

The job-outlook study also reported two-thirds of employers will raise starting salaries an average of 3.7 percent for those who graduate in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree.

You can get Seattle-centric with this week’s featured position as director of PR for Visit Seattle.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing or equivalent work experience. Candidates should also have strong media relations, writing and management skills, as well as experience in the hospitality industry.

The position involves media relations, crisis communications and editorial calendar management for the city of Seattle, so candidates should know the area before applying.

A tourism job isn’t the only opening in the Emerald City for PR and marketing professionals. Edelman’s Seattle office has an opening for a consumer tech PR account specialist, Amazon is looking for a technical marketing writer/editor, and Starbucks is hiring a group marketing manager at its corporate headquarters.
