This year, they got iPads.
“What better way to communicate that CME Group is progressive, innovative, technology-focused, than to integrate iPads into the conference?” asks Randy Frink, CME Group’s associate director of corporate marketing.
The iPads given to the 300 high-level attendees—top executives in the institutional investment sector—each came equipped with a personalized greeting and an app that not only provided relevant information about the conference, but kept everyone connected throughout the three-day event in late October. The response to the app was “astonishing,” Frink says.
CME Group developed a phone app for last year’s conference, but that only featured some agenda information and basic messaging, says Colleen Lazar, associate director of public affairs. Starting in January of this year, planners started thinking about building a conference-specific app for the iPad.
“In April, we began in earnest to define and create our outline for what needed to be there,” Lazar says.
