Earthquake shakes out the Twitter jokes
Politicians, Washingtonians and East Coast residents find themselves targeted by wisecracks in the wake of Tuesday’s temblor.

Poor D.C. can’t get a break.
Not only does our nation’s capital have to make do without a vote in Congress, it is ridiculed on Twitter when an earthquake hits in nearby Virginia.
Twitter was filled with jokes in the wake of the earthquake, along with wisecracks from parts of the country more accustomed to rattling dishes in the cupboards.
“Hey East Coast, the entire West Coast is mocking you right now,” Todd Walker, an anchorman in Anchorage, tweeted.
The Christian Science Monitor joined others reporting on politically themed earthquake jokes on Twitter, noting one tweet that read, “There was just a 6.0 earthquake in DC. Obama wanted it to be 3.4, but the Republicans wanted 6.0, so he compromised.”
Another jokester offered, “Bachmann out first with statement: as President she’ll lower quakes to 2.9.”
