If comms defers AI decisions to others, they risk being relegated to order takers. 

Instead, communicators must step up as decision-makers and shot callers who help shape their organization’s approach to AI. 

“Are you going to give communicators a seat at the table at the beginning so we can do this right, so that we can take all these stakeholders into account, or do we want to have communicators involved at the end when we inevitably make a decision that upsets one of those stakeholder groups?” said Brian Snyder, chief innovation officer at Axicom, in a panel at Ragan’s AI Horizons conference. 

The lineup also included LeVar Cooper, communications director for Lake County Government, and Michael Ramlet, CEO and co-founder of Morning Consult.
