There are many factors that contribute to a happy workplace.
An infographic from Juice explains how changing your office’s lighting, paint colors, smells and sounds can make your employees not only cheerier, but more productive.
Think about these considerations:
Lighting: Lighting may seem unimportant, but its effect is profound. Dim lighting makes people sleepy, and bright, harsh light gives people headaches. Let in as much natural light as possible. Employees will come into the office more often, get sick less frequently and work a little harder.
Wall colors: Just as you would thoughtfully consider paint colors for your home, be mindful of them in the office. Because it reminds people of nature, green makes people feel relaxed. Yellow increases concentration, white encourages optimism and blue increases productivity. Choose your wall colors accordingly.
Smells: Does your office smell like calming lavender and fresh peppermint, or the fish someone had for lunch? Most organizations don’t think about ensuring their office space smells nice, but doing so can have a profound effect on employees. Lavender calms and reduces stress, lemon increases concentration and peppermint boosts energy.
