Infographic: Engaging employees of all generations

Staff turnover is expensive and time-consuming. Spare yourself those headaches, and try harder to engage the workers you already have. The rewards are worth the effort.

Conventional wisdom holds that millennials are lazy, entitled, addicted to technology and, generally, the worst.

Sure, some members of Generation Y fit those stereotypes—but so do members of other generations.

Whether or not you’re a fan of millennials, at least a few probably work for your company. If you want them to stick around (and you should, unless you don’t mind the costs that come with employee turnover), you have to know how to engage them.

An infographic from Betterteam reveals a few ways you can do so, along with tips for keeping members of other generations satisfied, too.

A few stats from the infographic:

  • Fifty-five percent of millennials are not engaged at work.
  • Fifty percent of millennials are more likely to be engaged if they have regular meetings with their managers.
  • About 60 percent of employees say the No. 1 way to boost engagement is to recognize workers for a job well done.
  • Organizations with low engagement have 62 percent more accidents.
