VIDEO: Highlights from Ragan’s ‘Council Career Conversations’ series

Here at Ragan, we pride ourselves on bringing the best thought leadership and perspectives from around the comms field. With that thought in mind, earlier this year we launched a new video series as part of Ragan’s Communications Leadership Council — “Council Career Conversations”. In each episode, we feature a leader in the world of communications who shares the steps they took along their career journey and advice they’d give up-and-coming leaders.
The episode of the series features Melissa Hasson, director of corporate affairs at Amgen. We touched on her recommendations for leaders on the rise in comms and about some of the early career pivots she made.
Next, we talked with Joan Cetera, president of corporate communications at PepsiCo Foods North America. Joan spoke to us about how she came to work at her current organization and what she feels leaders always need to keep at the forefront of their strategies.
In episode three, we chatted with Christy Noland, vice president of executive and business communications at Elevance Health. Christy provided shared the best advice she’s gotten as a comms leader and identified the top traits that she sees in comms leaders today.
Episode four features Karen Testa, director of communications at Bell. Karen spoke about the qualities she thinks every comms leader needs to have, touching on the stops along her own career path that made her into the leader she is today.
For our most recent episode, we spoke with Melissa Kanter, head of communications and brand experience, Americas at ING. In our talk, Melissa touched on the intangibles that great leaders need to look for and gave some advice to other comms leaders.
