Kim Clark

Kim Clark is an affiliate consultant for Ragan Consulting Group. Throughout her career she has focused on messaging, audiences and how communications shape people's experience. Her career spans radio, documentary filmmaking, agency partnerships with the Discovery Channel, marketing, brand strategy, writing, training and teaching. Since entering corporate cultures at KLA-Tencor, PayPal, NetApp and GoDaddy, she has taken full advantage of the various mediums to engage employees and facilitate transparency and trust in organizations. While at GoDaddy, she built an infrastructure and internal communications strategy from scratch and moved the trust needle 13 points in just six months (as measured by the organization's annual engagement survey). She is now working on practical ideas on how culture and communications can work together to co-create a workplace culture that's inclusive for all. @KimClark1

After introductions and some coffee or tea, we'll share the kinds of changes our organizations have gone through or are going through. We'll find that we aren't alone. Most change projects "fail," so we'll identify common mistakes and how to avoid them.

It's vital to look at our organizations' obstacles to embracing change in a very honest way and to identify what's within our control and what is not. Without this pause, without being asked tough questions and asking them ourselves, opportunities for success can be lost.

Key activities and takeaways:

  • Take a look at your own resilience factor and sit in the seat of the employee.
  • Deconstruct your organization's obstacles to accepting change, breaking them down from mountains to molehills using Design Thinking.
  • Conduct your own version of a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats).
  • Discuss the building blocks of resilience.

Now that your problem is broken down into manageable pieces, we'll move to constructing the nuts and bolts of your workforce resiliency plan. Plus, we'll delve into the culture change process, including the role of diversity and inclusion as a business transformation.

  • Use the building blocks of resiliency and components of your current work culture to shape the plan.
  • Review your strategy to see whether it needs tweaking or if it can successfully tweak your change challenge.

This is when we tie it all together and make the day's work actionable. We'll look at priorities, our to-do lists and our next steps in proactively equipping our colleagues for change. We'll discuss why we must be at the table now, putting our plan in motion to prepare employees for the future. We'll also define our goals of engagement, retention, productivity, etc.
