Set the stage for building your plan: Define the resilient vision for the workforce

After introductions and some coffee and tea, we'll share the kinds of changes our organizations have gone through or are going through. We'll find that we aren't alone. Then, we'll get clear on the definition of resilience, look at research of resilient organizations and create the building blocks of resilience that will guide us for the rest of the workshop.

  • Articulate your own change challenges in your organization
  • Depict an ideal outcome—a vision of what's possible (not probable)
  • Apply best practices from professional growth research to create a resilient culture through trust and social capital
10:45-11 a.m.


11 a.m.-12.15 p.m.

Crucial steps in building your plan: Identify the pain points that will derail its success

It's crucial to look at our organizations' challenges to embracing change in a very honest way and identify what's in our control and what is not. Without this pause, without being asked tough questions (and practicing asking tough questions), opportunities to make moments in the details can be lost.

Key activities and takeaways:

  • Take a look at your own resilience factor and sit in the seat of the employee
  • Deconstruct your organization's obstacles to accepting change, breaking them down from mountains to molehills
  • Your own version of a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats)
12:15-1:15 p.m.


1:15-2:30 p.m.

Build your workforce resilience plan using Design Thinking

Now that your problem is broken down into pieces, we'll move to constructing the nuts and bolts of your workforce resiliency plan. Using the innovative approach of Design Thinking, we'll build and test your plan in real time so we can work out the kinks before launching it on the job.

Key activities and takeaways:

  • Use the building blocks of resiliency and what exists in your current work culture to shape the plan
  • Review your strategy to see if it needs tweaking or if it can tweak your change challenge
  • Embed teachable moments between leadership, managers and their teams so they're learning from their mistakes to help the business thrive
  • Use a different narrative style of transparency, inclusivity and dependability to help employees embrace (yes, embrace) setbacks and even failures
2:30-2:45 p.m.


2:45-4 p.m.

Go big and go home: Create the definitive action plan for putting your workforce resilience strategy into motion

This is where we tie it all together and make the day's work actionable. We'll look at priorities, our to-do lists and our next steps to be proactive in preparing our employees for change. We'll look at why we have to be at the table so we can seed messaging now to prepare our folks for the future. We'll look at our goals of engagement, retention, productivity, etc., and work together to help each other achieve them by switching the mindset from a change challenge to becoming change champions.

  • Walk away with an effective strategic communication strategy that is proactive and not reactive to today's disruptive business environment
  • Use employee feedback to know if your communications are on the right track
