Study: No single platform ranks as top news source
The death of traditional media has been greatly exaggerated, researchers at the Pew Research Center found.
If you’re only getting your message out via online news sources, you may want to rethink that.
According to a recent survey from the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism and Internet and American Life Project, Americans still get their local news from newspapers, TV and the radio, in addition to the Web. It just depends what they’re looking for.
Newspapers are still the No. 1 source for news on community events, crime, taxes, local government, arts, culture and zoning, and ties with TV for political news. In fact, newspapers ranked as the top source of information in 11 of 16 topics. But most respondents—more than two-thirds—said the death of their local newspaper would have little or no impact on them getting local news.
