Summary

The Advisor, Internal Communications and Engagement will be responsible for crafting communications and messaging to inform and engage our more than 1,500 employees. As apart of the Communications team but working with departments across the agency, you will work to capture the audience’s attention and effectively communicate agency-wide initiatives while building relationships across the agency.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Manage Internal Communications Channels (70%)

  • Solicits input for, drafts, and designs the weekly agency e-newsletter; serves as manager of editorial content of intranet homepage;
  • Manages content for internal messaging screens in three offices;
  • Drafts and sends agency email announcements and invitations in collaboration with initiative lead; engage and support on enterprise social platform (FaceBook Workplace).
  • Maintains editorial calendar for internal communications to drive proactive and reactive campaigns.
  • Provides input to strategic and operational planning for Marketing, Communications, and Fundraising and the agency as a whole..
  • Provides particular support surrounding change management communications and other wide-ranging initiatives.

Staff Engagement (20%)

  • In collaboration with Managing Director, explores, researches, and tests new innovations in internal communications, including new technologies, to engage staff in new ways.
  • Partners with teams across the agency on various staff opportunities throughout the year.
  • Seeks new and innovative ways to keep staff motivated and excited about our mission.

Partner with Global Communications Colleagues (10%)

  • Serve as a member of the global communications group, driving and championing strategic communications objectives across the movement and within Save the Children US.
  • Perform other duties as may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least five (5) years of relevant experience
• Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
• Demonstrated ability to gain and possess a strong understanding of agency priorities and the Global Work Plan
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a number of internal audiences
• Proven project management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated influencing, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Proven experience with web Content Management Systems
• Proven experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp, Constant Contact).
• Willingness and ability to occasionally work outside of normal working hours as necessitated by emergencies.
