Surprise, surprise, bloggers are overly competitive. Now please cut it out
Oh bloggers, when will you learn?
To help commemorate its 10th anniversary, PRWeek has spent August hosting a competition among 32 communications bloggers. The trade publication selected 16 blogs then asked the authors of each to select another industry blog.
Web readers vote for their favorites in single-elimination, blog-on-blog competition. Think NCAA tournament meets American Idol. Eight bloggers currently remain.
Seems those bloggers have taken this friendly game too far.
An e-mail to semifinalists from PRWeek’s editor-in-chief, Keith O’Brien, scolded the bloggers for “spending way too much energy demanding every man, woman and child vote for their blog.” The e-mail was leaked to PRNewser blog.
Apparently bloggers had mobilized voters to cast ballots, instead of letting the competition play out among blog readers.
