Paul Pendergrass is known by many as Jack Flack the blogger, who writes on “business spin” and PR issues for Portfolio magazine. Among his guiding philosophies for the blog is to reward good reporters and PR pros, while roasting the bad ones.
In a recent PR Week interview, Pendergrass said it was “fairly unorthodox” for someone to write about “business spin” under “the banner of an established media name.” He said “there’s nobody really doing this” and called it “uncharted territory.”
This set off alarm bells at Ragan. What has this publishing company done since 1970? What about the publication that did the interview, PR Week? Not to mention AdAge and PR News—all three are observers, reporters and commentators on “business spin” and PR. Newspapers occasionally write pieces on the topic as well.
