The reaction to a new Microsoft TV ad shows some bloggers don’t have a clue
Geeky IT bloggers are bashing Microsoft’s new $300 million ad campaign that features Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld. The harsh criticism speaks volumes about these bloggers, namely they fail to understand audiences.
The multifaceted campaign, meant to invigorate the Microsoft brand, launched Sunday with a highly anticipated TV commercial. The ad features Seinfeld and Gates strolling through a shopping mall.
That’s a boneheaded criticism. I doubt Crispin Porter + Bogusky, the ad firm behind this campaign, simply forgot to write clever marketing copy into the script. This is, after all, the teaser ad for a large campaign.
