This just in! Newt Gingrich confused by cell phones, blenders, laptops

Some news outlets are so desperate for content they’ll run anything … and we mean anything.

I had one of those “Onion” moments the other day.

I’m sure you’ve had them. You’ll be on Facebook or Twitter or a news site or somewhere else online and you come across a story that you just know had to come out of the satirical newspaper, The Onion.

Only it didn’t. It’s real. Utterly ridiculous, but real.

It happened to me on Twitter. I was minding my own business, reading tweets from various social media gurus trying to figure out what makes them social media gurus, when I came across this tweet:

“Newt Gingrich wants to rename the cell phone.”

I was intrigued, because I have long suspected that Newt Gingrich is slowly losing his mind, so I followed the link. It took me to Newt’s YouTube channel, where there was an actual video of Newt talking about how he is confused about what to call the cell phone, because most cell phones are more than phones.

I am not making this up.
