Brands across the globe are flocking to Pinterest. And not just grocers, department stores and fashion designers, but car makers and hardware stores, too. With Pinterest’s 21 million unique visitors, you can see why. One brand, though, stands above the rest.
Real Simple, an online source for recipes, fashion and organization advice, has more than 69,000 followers and is one of the 10 most-followed brands on Pinterest. How did the company do it? It’s real simple:
1. Variety: Real Simple has 57 boards. It has boards titled “Organization Inspiration,” “Foodie Favorites,” “Celebrate Easter,” and more. Boards that have a narrow focus help grab the attention of people who have specific interests.
2. Consistency: Real Simple regularly pins content—it has 2,206 pins so far. Like on any social network, a steady dose of content is key to success and can help you win more exposure and engagement.
3. Relevance: Pinterest’s audience in the United States is mostly women—82 percent, in fact. With a majority of pins that focus on fashion, cooking and decorating, Real Simple plays to that audience. When you launch your Pinterest page, remember to pin content and create boards that fit the interests and needs of your ideal customers.
4. Quality photos: Don’t forget that Pinterest, before anything else, is a visual site. Make sure every image you post is high quality and grabs the viewer’s attention so he or she wants to click through to your website. Real Simple’s images are a perfect benchmark.
