Step aside, “Candy Crush Saga.” Real players know “FarmVille” pioneered the social game space—along with addicting a generation of people to growing virtual crops.
The dependency is as real as it is widespread: More than 400 million people have played “FarmVille” and “FarmVille 2,” and more than 55 million “Words with Friends” games are happening at any given moment.
Social media pros can put that addiction to use with this week’s featured job opening.
Zynga is looking for a community management manager to work in the company’s Beijing office.
Candidates should have at least five years experience with community development, and should understand competitive gaming audiences just as much as social media platforms.
It won’t be a job simply posting to Facebook, either. The chosen candidate will take part in corporate strategy, establish and report metrics, manage interns, and become a community expert among Zynga’s fans.
The position’s responsibilities ultimately support this gem Zynga CEO, Don Mattrick, said on the company’s website:
Zynga has redefined entertainment and brought gaming to the mainstream. Only Zynga combines engineering, industry-leading product management and analytics to deliver products that strike a chord with consumers and add real value in their lives.
Mattrick didn’t say whether that “real value” was in the form of Farm Cash or Mafia Wars loot, but he could be referencing the $20 million donated to nonprofits through in-game campaigns.
