Thankfully, Curalate answered them for us.
Curalate analyzed 8 million Instagram photos and determined what image qualities drive the most engagement. It compiled the results in this infographic.

Here are a few of the findings:
- Bright images drive 24 percent more likes than dark images.
- Images that are predominantly blue bring in 24 percent more likes than images that are predominantly red.
- Images with a high amount of background drive 29 percent more likes than images without.
- Images with a single dominant color bring in 17 percent more likes than images with multiple dominant colors.
And we couldn’t leave this one out: Duck-face selfies drive 1,112 percent more likes than traditional selfies.
