Head of Social Media - United States Department of Defense
David Johnston is the head of social media at the United States Department of Defense. In this role, he's responsible for developing and executing social media programs and products in support of Department of Defense communication strategies and public affairs objectives. He plans, organizes and oversees the day-to-day production and distribution of DoD social media messaging and management of the various platform and distribution channels while analyzing social media and other communication efforts to identify the most effective direction, application and strategic technology and outreach practices for meeting identified communications goals. He also serves as the director of media for Speedway Children's Charities, a nonprofit organization that provides funding for hundreds of nonprofits nationwide that meet the direct needs of children. The organization's vision is that every child has the same opportunities no matter what obstacle they are facing.
