Elizabeth Whittington, APR, is the Senior Director of Executive Communications at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where she supports the president and CEO in shaping strategic narratives that advance the institution’s mission. Her role includes leading initiatives that align executive messaging with organizational priorities, fostering engagement, and amplifying the institution’s impact on a global scale.

Prior to St. Jude, Whittington served as digital editor for CURE Media Group, an award-winning media company that provides information on oncology research, treatment options, and patient support to individuals navigating cancer. Her work has resulted in a Medicine in the Media fellowship, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health’s Office of Disease Prevention.

Throughout her career, Whittington has built a reputation for thought leadership and advocacy in healthcare and science communications. She is a member of PRSA’s Health Academy, has served on the steering committee for the Public Relations and Marketing Network for National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Centers, and mentors early-career professionals through the National Association of Science Writers and PRSSA.

Whittington holds a B.S. in biology from Mississippi University for Women and an MBA from Christian Brothers University. She also earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR).
