John Yaglenski

Deputy Managing Director & Director of Communications - IEEE-USA

John is a serial entrepreneur, storyteller, futurist, and visionary leader with a passion for turning bold ideas into real‑world impact. Recently elevated to Deputy Managing Director, he has spent 27 years transforming IEEE‑USA’s Washington, D.C. Communications Department into a strategic engine for innovation and influence. He leads the organization’s messaging across public relations, digital platforms, newsletters, and social media — ensuring a unified, compelling voice that advances IEEE‑USA’s mission, vision, and brand. IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional society serving more than 160,000 members in the U.S. and 500,000 globally.

Prior to joining IEEE, John led Erol’s Internet Design Team as General Manager of Web Development.  Erol’s was the 4th largest Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the United States at the time, behind AOL, Earthlink and MindSpring, serving 325,000 subscribers in the Boston/Washington, DC corridor. While at Erol’s, he founded INTERCOT – one of the Internet’s largest Walt Disney World vacation planning communities, which celebrates 29 years online in 2026. INTERCOT was an early adopter of discussion boards (the original social media) and podcasting (first episode 16 years ago), with its informative but irreverent review of all things Disney. At its peak, INTERCOT served more than 2 million visitors a month, and is still recognized today as an influencer in the Disney travel space.

John also spent more than 10 years in radio as a Program Director and on-air personality/DJ, roaming town to town – up and down the dial for radio stations in: Washington, D.C.; Manassas, VA; Martinsburg, WV; Frederick, MD; Hagerstown, MD, Lima, OH and Dayton, OH.

He is a University of Dayton alum (Go Flyers!), an avid photographer, graphic designer, classic arcade game collector, tech junkie, and thyroid cancer survivor who has been married for 35 years to his beautiful wife Stacey, and Dad to his talented sons Michael and Andrew.
