Madeleine Shin has a diverse, 15-year background in healthcare communications and media relations, during which she has managed media, messaging and crisis response for powerful healthcare brands, professional associations and federal lawmakers. Shin currently serves as the US Health Media Lead for Weber Shandwick, overseeing a team of 30 healthcare media specialists across the country.

She has served as a media trainer for eight years, coaching individuals from pharma executives, celebrities – like Ken Jeong, Tan Fance and Jason Alexander – and federal policymakers on presentation and media presence, giving them the confidence they need for even the toughest interviews. As a media relations professional, she has garnered influential top tier and consumer media placements for her clients in AP, CNN, GMA, CBS, Today.com, and People, among others.

Shin has led media relations strategy for pharma and biotech brands, including Novartis, Lilly, Biogen, and Vertex. She has also engaged in three in-house secondments supporting the Novartis US External Corporate Engagement Team. Outside of the pharmaceutical space, She led earned media and executive visibility in communications roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. She also served as Press Secretary for a pro-healthcare reform member of the U.S. House of Representatives during the highly politicized 2009/10 healthcare reform debate.

Shin graduated Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Politics. She was also a member of the University’s varsity women’s golf team.
