Shawna Neujahr

Shawna Neujahr is the Manager of Culture & Internal Communications at Airlite, a job that didn’t exist when she started in 2017. A self-proclaimed accidental IC’er, she wandered through advertising, public relations, and marketing roles, then 16 years of social work, before landing in training and development. Then Covid hit in 2020. Training paused, leaders and team members needed information, and Airlite, a national manufacturer with no communications function at all, suddenly had one: Shawna. She launched Team Radar, a weekly email that still publishes every Wednesday, and a monthly enterprise Teams meeting now known as Crew News.

For two years, she was the whole team. Today she leads a team of three, sits on the HR+ leadership team, and keeps communication rooted in 'The Airlite Way', the company’s leadership principles and core values. She co-led the Workvivo rollout (known at Airlite as ConnectMe!) with Haley Dibben, who joined in 2022.

Shawna believes everyone deserves clear, relevant communication in a language they understand: the message they want when they want it, and the message they need from their leaders when they need it. With team members across North America speaking many primary languages other than English, and more than 20 at the Omaha headquarters alone, reaching every one of them is the work. Challenge accepted.

A grammar and spelling stickler and certifiable book junkie, Shawna is also a wife, mom, "grammy", and Oldsmobile car club member who usually has the next vacation destination on the calendar.
