A good story about a first-ever conference shouldn’t waste time getting down to business

Life can keep us so busy at times that it’s difficult to find the time to step back, look at where we’ve been and consider where we’re going. But that vantage point can be important in all areas of life.

True enough, but this borders on the trite and gets us off to a pretty slow start.

Power plants are no exception, as Energy Supply’s recent Maintenance Initiative Conference demonstrated. A mix of managers, planners, supervisors, engineers and Production Resources personnel—with more than 1,200 years of combined maintenance experience—attended the conference.

The 1,200 years of experience is intended to impress, but the number is so enormous that it loses all meaning. Does this mean our experience dates back to 805 A.D.?
