During January’s Employee Communications 101 virtual conference, Julie Whitten, sr. director of change management strategy at Sodexo, Sean Williamson, managing director and head of employee platform at Neuberger Berman, and Sean Winters, SVP of strategy and customer experience at LumApps, discussed how comms pros can rely on generative AI and intranets alike to help employees better trek through the technological terrain.

Here’s what we learned.

Williamson explained how Neuberger Berman’s internal version of the generative AI tool ChatGPT, dubbed NBGPT, helped drive efficiencies in his internal comms process.

“It’s still in the early days, and we’re learning,” stressed Williamson. “But within internal communication, we’re realizing the time efficiencies, the turnaround time to create a draft or utilize it for different tools is just incredible. If I think about a blog post or writing, it’s shrinking the time you’re spending on that by, I would say, almost two-thirds.”

He added that the custom GPT drives the employees’ ability to create, distribute and publish more content while allowing them to look at audience-specific content, then drill down and get more specific with it. This, in turn, drives more creativity.
