Bloggers don’t just mangle the English language. They also help defend it. Among the more than 133 million blogs, there are many that offer worthwhile advice for writers. Here are a few.

Grammar Girl wins the blue ribbon for writing advice. And although it is a podcast, the author posts transcripts in case you prefer reading instead of listening.

Last week, Grammar Girl used the presidential inauguration to discuss verb modifiers, such as “faithfully.” President Obama repeated the oath of office as read by Chief Justice John Roberts, “I will execute the office of the president of the United States faithfully,” instead of saying “faithfully execute,” as it is spelled out in the Constitution. Are both versions grammatically correct? Grammar Girl asked.
