It’s a murky, messy place, that blogosphere, but believe it or not there’s lots of worthwhile content for communicators. So here are 16 tips, tactics, trends and oddities from recent blogs.

If windbags can embrace brevity, so can you. Knowing how, um, descriptive bloggers can be, winners of the June 9 Webby Awards (Oscars for Web sites) were only allowed five-word acceptance speeches.

So here’s a challenge: Could you reduce a communications vehicle to five words?

Then again, sometimes brevity is bad for PR pros. The Bad Pitch Blog roasted a PR pro for this e-mail pitch: “Hello. Could you run this in your publication. Thank, Celeste.” The subject line, by the way, said: “Mailing services are a hot trend for printers.”

Beat the blogging blues, write shorter posts. There is apparently a phenomenon called a “mid-blogging crisis” and it doesn’t involve Corvettes and younger women.
