The most unusual holiday gifts from co-workers

Twenty-two percent of workers say they plan to exchange gifts with their co-workers this holiday season. If you’re among them, here are some things you shouldn’t buy.

Do you expect a gift from your boss this holiday season?

How about from your co-workers?

A survey from CareerBuilder says 35 percent of employers plan to give their employees gifts this year (45 percent plan to give holiday bonuses), and 22 percent of workers plan to swap gifts with their peers.

If you plan to exchange gift with co-workers this year, the survey says a majority of workers (78 percent) expect to spend $25 or less on each gift.

What’s a good gift idea for a co-worker? Well, we can tell you what not to buy. The survey listed the most unusual items people have received from their co-workers and, well, we wish we could say they were white elephant gifts.

The most peculiar gifts people have received from co-workers are:

1. Homemade laundry detergent.

2. A talking fly swatter.
