CBS News executive Shawna Thomas to keynote Top Women in Communications Awards Luncheon

Thomas will help celebrate impressive women in the comms industry as the awards return in-person.

Shawna Thomas will headline the Top Women in Communications awards

For the first time since 2019, Ragan and PR Daily will present the annual Top Women in Communications Luncheon and Awards Ceremony in person. On Thursday, June 16, the gala at the Edison Ballroom in New York City will honor the most impressive women in the profession will feature keynoter Shawna Thomas, executive producer for CBS News’ “CBS Mornings.”

An award-winning journalist, producer and program executive, Thomas’ accolades include four Emmy Awards, a Peabody, a Gracie Award and two Scripps Howard honors. Prior to joining CBS in February 2021, she was a content development executive at Quibi, helping create short-form news programming with NBC News, CBS News and BBC News.

Previous stints included Vice News, where Thomas served as Washington, D.C. bureau chief, and NBC News, where she spent just over a decade. From July 2014 to August 2016, she was senior producer for “Meet the Press.”

The keys to attention-grabbing content and counsel on how communicators can bolster their relationship with the media will be among the topics Thomas will discuss during her session.

At the June 16 event, Ragan and PR Daily will induct the 2022 Women in Communications Hall of Fame Class. As a special bonus, 2020 and 2021 Hall of Fame honorees, who could not be saluted in person due to COVID restrictions, will also be recognized. In addition, other top leaders in the profession will be highlighted in 11 different categories.
