The school’s jobs page is detailed and impressive, but its home page wastes valuable space
Content: I find it hard to believe there is so little content Northwestern wants to bring attention to that they are willing to devote two blocks of content entirely to their “Plan It Purple” calendar of events. Plan It Purple is essentially a calendar of events with basic filters to help users view events they are most interested in. Every school should feature a calendar link on the home page, but devoting this much space to it is too much.
At first glance, the “Life at Northwestern” section of the site looks really dull. It’s almost as if the designers of the page reversed their design priorities. Images are relegated to the left-hand side of the page and the main body of the page is taken up with what are essentially permanently expanded links—a ridiculous amount of grey text on white background.
