30 jobs in the PR and marketing world

Break out your fancy chapeau, and pour yourself a minty bourbon delight; Derby Day is approaching. This week’s featured position is for the parent company of the famous event.

30 PR and marketing jobs

“The most exciting two minutes in sports” takes place this weekend.

On Saturday, Churchill Downs racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky, will host the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Omaha Beach, a 3-year-old bay, enters as the favorite to win in the 20-horse field.

There is plenty of on-track excitement, but many eyes will fix on the pomp and circumstance in the stands.

One notable, non-sports staple of the historic event is the attendees’ garb. Racegoers don their Sunday best, including elaborate hats that cost up to $1,000.

“And what are these dapper folks drinking at the event?” you ask.

Around 120,000 mint juleps, the official drink of the Derby, are consumed each year at the historic racetrack. The bourbon-based drink is a favorite for fans both in the stands and watching at home or their local watering hole.

Last year, 17.5 million viewers tuned in to see Justify’s victory at Churchill Downs, en route to only the 13th Triple Crown ever. To accomplish this feat, a single horse must win the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes in a single year.

Want to work for the parent company of Churchill Downs? Churchill Downs Inc. is looking for a user acquisition manager for its BetAmerica marketing team in Louisville.
