A bombardment of self-captured photos will soon be upon us: Friday is National Selfie Day.
The narcissistic celebration was created by DJ Rick McNeely in 2014 and has been recognized on June 21 since. It went viral in 2017.
This year features a contest in which people can upload their selfies to the official website to be voted on by site visitors.
What could go wrong?
Here are a few famous selfies to get you ready for National Selfie Day:
This shot from January 2016 features Hillary Clinton, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. It was Kardashian’s endorsement of Clinton as the Democratic presidential candidate.
Many people are aware of the Buzz Aldrin “selfie” from space, but Japanese astronaut Aki Hoshide captured this out-of-this-world selfie in 2012.
