HP takes malaria fight mobile

HP is equipping health-care officials in Africa with cell phones that help them spot outbreaks and exchange information.

The faster health officials can gather and disseminate information about disease outbreaks, the more help they can give. So HP’s initiative to provide officials in Botswana with Palm Pre 2 cell phones is a big step in the fight against malaria.

Using an app, health-care workers all over the country can upload data—tagged with pictures, data and audio—to a shared cloud for others to see. The Ministry of Health can then use that data to determine where outbreaks are happening.
