Serving as a senior individual contributor, you will lead complex communications initiatives, advise senior stakeholders, and mentor colleagues. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, including setting strategic direction within agreed-upon priorities, making informed decisions within scope, and exercising sound judgment with minimal day‑to‑day oversight. You will bring active listening and curiosity, standing confidently behind recommendations informed by data insights, business context, and experience.
Success in this role requires a passion for clear, creative writing, a collaborative and proactive mindset, and commitment to integrity and accountability.
THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
The Internal Communications Advisor plays a critical role in shaping communications strategies for senior executives and key business initiatives. This role provides strategic counsel, leads high-impact communications plans, and drives alignment, engagement, and clarity across the organization. You will deliver on the following responsibilities:
- Strategic Communication Leadership: Develop, deliver, and advise business division partners on internal strategic communications for the enterprise or for select business division audiences, based on evolving priorities and business needs. This individual will align communications with the company’s mission and business objectives and ensure that all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
- Executive Communications Counsel: Serve as a trusted communications advisor to the highest-level executives, ensuring that their messages are clear, compelling, and aligned with business priorities.
- Change Management: Guide communications strategies that support organizational change, partnering with key stakeholders to navigate transitions, anticipate employee sentiment, and foster a forward-looking and resilient culture.
- Decision‑Making & Ownership: Independently assess communications needs, develop recommendations, and make decisions within scope, escalating strategically when broader enterprise implications are identified.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster integrated communications by partnering with public relations, executive communications, marketing, and social media teams to maximize content reach and effectiveness.
- Creative Storytelling: Apply storytelling techniques and data-driven insights to inform and improve communications strategies in support of business outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 6 years of experience working in Internal Communications in a corporate environment required; for-profit, private sector experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated strategic judgment, initiative, and independent decision‑making appropriate for a senior individual contributor role.
- Experience developing complex, strategic communications plans and successfully leading end-to-end implementation across a business division or enterprise.
- Exceptional writing, editing, presenting, and storytelling abilities to develop impactful content for various internal channels and tailor communications to an author’s voice and targeted audiences.
- Excellent relationship management and project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, deliver results, effectively influence and negotiate, facilitate meetings, and resolve conflicts including with colleagues who may be more senior to you.
- Experience helping an organization navigate and communicate through change, advance strategic objectives, and address employee sentiment and feedback.
- Proven ability to lead as a senior individual contributor to drive belonging, constructive challenge, continuous improvement, and alignment throughout the Public Relations and Operations team and across partnerships.
- Ability to leverage and interpret data insights to track, measure, and analyze communications effectiveness, providing recommendations for improvement and adapting to evolving business needs.
