Wall Street Journal’s app gets poor reviews

The paper’s confusing startup screen has led to its two-star rating in Apple’s iTunes store.

People would have every right to be mad at the Wall Street Journal if the paper forced them to pay twice to read articles on its iPhone app. To look at the comments on the app’s iTunes download page, that’s exactly what a lot of customers believe.

“In order to use this mobile app, they expect you to pay an additional fee on top of your existing paid subscription to view the exact same content through the mobile app,” wrote reviewer Andrew Maiman. “No thanks, I’ll just read it through Safari for no additional charge.”

Many users agree with Maiman. The app has a two-star rating. Trouble is, there isn’t an additional charge for website subscribers. It just looks like there is.
