By now, brands have been using Facebook in their social media marketing strategy for years. Although the network seems old hat, it is also filled with untapped potential. Think you know everything there is to know about Facebook? Here are a few things you might not have known you could do: 1. Text to “like.” Facebook gives your fans the ability to “like” your page through text message. All you need to do is text “Like [insert your page username here]” to FBOOK (32665). Users will not only automatically like your Facebook page, but they will also get notifications from your brand (which they can opt out of). 2. Post embedding. Facebook allows you to embed a post on your blog or website. Users can also like your page directly from the embedded post. Click the arrow on the top right corner of the post to find the embedding code.
3. Edit links. When you post a link to your Facebook page, the link auto-generates underneath with a title, photo, and description. All of these are editable. Change the thumbnail by using the arrows. When your mouse hovers over the title and description, they become yellow. Click on the text while yellow and change it to say whatever you want. 4. Schedule posts. Instead of going through a third party such as HootSuite or BufferApp, you have the option to schedule posts directly through Facebook. When entering a status update you can schedule posts by clicking on the clock in the bottom left corner. The target lets you geo-target posts to different locations, and the pin enables you to add a location to your update. 5. Re-position photos. When you post a photo on your page, Facebook will automatically center it to fit the space. If your photo is slightly larger or smaller than Facebook allows, then your photo may show up off-centered or cut off. After posting, you are given the opportunity to re-position the photo so it looks exactly the way you want. Click on the arrow in the top right corner. 6. Search for anyone. Facebook no longer lets users hide from search within the platform. Every Facebook user is now available to be found via Facebook search. Profiles can still be hidden from Web searches, however. Check your privacy settings to confirm your search reach. 7. Edit comments and posts. Ever posted something and 30 seconds later realized it included a typo? Don’t worry about deleting it and fixing it before anyone notices. Facebook allows you to edit the post after publishing. Use the magical arrow in the top right corner to edit all comments and posts after they go live.
