Obama/Osama typos abound on the Web

Now is a good time to reread that message before hitting the send button—especially if you’re gloating about someone else’s typo.

The B key, as Vanity Fair makes clear, is nowhere near the S key. So what’s with all the Obama/Osama typos all of a sudden?

Vanity Fair issued a “gentle reminder” to writers after a slew of typos of the similar names made their way into the media.

Some people rashly sought to score political points when a local affiliate of Fox News, never a friend of the president, announced, “Reports: Obama bin Laden Dead.”

But typos were not the sole domain of the right, as Gawker pointed out. Keith Olbermann cast stones at Fox right after he made the same typo: “In point of fact, Mr. Bush personally de-prioritized the hunt for Obama, said himself he didn’t worry about him.”
