Boston College’s management school and the Reputation Institute released a list of the most reputable companies. Find out who made the list.

Drum roll, please … The most reputable company is … Publix Super Markets. That’s according to the 2011 Corporate Social Responsibility Index from the Reputation Institute and the Carroll School of Management’s Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College. Here are the top 10 companies from the list of 50:

  1. Publix Super Markets
  2. Google
  3. UPS
  4. Kellogg’s
  5. Amazon
  6. Berkshire Hathaway
  7. FedEx
  8. Campbell Soup Company
  9. Baxter International
  10. 3M

The CSR Index is determined by three factors:

  • Citizenship: Does the company contribute positively to its surrounding community in a socially and environmentally responsible fashion?
  • Governance: Is the company business run in a fair and transparent fashion? Do stakeholders associate the company with high ethical business standards?
  • Workplace: Are employees treated fairly and paid a decent wage? Does the company invest in developing employee skill sets and career opportunities?
