Communications associations tout the importance of social media in today’s digital world—but do they follow their own advice? Do their top-level executives?

The short answer is yes and no. Most communications associations are exploring social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and blogs, or some combination of the above.

Most top executives, though, are a little slower in becoming engaged. The majority are on LinkedIn, and some are also on Facebook. Few, however, have an active social media presence beyond a profile.

Twitter: Yes. President Beth Swanson, Yes.

Facebook: Yes. Swanson, No.

LinkedIn: Yes. Swanson, Yes.

Blog: Yes. Swanson, No.

Twitter: Yes. President Kathy Cripps, No.
