Flight Centre Travel Group’s expanding Healthwise program keeps people at forefront
The travel agency’s wellness offerings grew during the pandemic to include webinars, online classes, challenges and more, earning recognition as an Outstanding Wellness Program (Large Organization) in Ragan’s Workplace Wellness Awards.
While the Flight Centre Travel Group started its Healthwise program 21 years ago, the program ramped up during the pandemic. The travel agency — comprised of 11 brands across retail, wholesale and the corporate travel sector throughout the U.S. and Canada — roots the Healthwise program in core values, including a credo of 10 philosophies with the first being “Our People.” Flight Centre Travel Group leaders recognize happy, healthy employees are more productive.
The expansion of the Healthwise program during the pandemic included live, weekly webinars on topics like working from home, home ergonomics, meal planning, nutrition, gardening, soap making, cooking, stress management, mental health, stretching, sleeping tricks and progress over perfection. Live, weekly yoga classes and recorded classes on other topics also were made available. The program generated exercise challenges and invited employees to submit recipes for a “Quarantine Cookbook.” Overall program goals included increasing engagement and brand awareness, providing health-related content for all employees and inspiring them.
