Having spent more than 11 years of my career as a consultant, it was not an easy decision for me to move into a corporate role. Before accepting the offer, I debated for days whether I’d be bored in the corporate world, whether it would be enough of a challenge, or whether I’d spend my days stuck in meetings, never getting any real work done.
After eight months in my role, I can safely say that I’m not bored— far from it. This is, without question, the most challenging job I’ve ever had. And while I spend a fair amount of time in meetings, my boss says I’ve gotten more done in eight months than my predecessor did in two years.
How have I been so successful? It all goes back to my experience in consulting.
