Mission statements are serious business documents that can dramatically improve your company’s bottom line. So are vision statements, value statements, quality statements, statements of management principles, statements of strategic intent, and statements of other kinds of principles, positions, stances, and values. No company can have too many statements.
The rules for writing these statements are the same as those for other kinds of business writing, but mission statements are more difficult because they are committee efforts. The following exchange illustrates the point.
