Infographic: How to tell better brand stories

Eighty-five percent of consumers say they can’t remember a good brand story. Apply these tips to ensure your brand-related stories aren’t only memorable, but will also motivate people to buy.

According to an infographic by Headstream, 79 percent of people are interested in brands’ stories, but 85 percent can’t recall a memorable one.

Although brand managers are telling stories, they have to get better at it. The infographic says 55 percent of consumers are more likely to buy from your brand if they like your story.

How can brand managers improve their techniques?

A few tips from the infographic:

  • Tell stories about regular people. Sixty-six percent of consumers want to hear about people similar to them.
  • Be funny. Consumers of all ages say they prefer humorous stories over inspirational, informative, dramatic or surprising ones.
  • Use owned media channels. Consumers want to receive brand stories through a brand’s website, blog or email newsletter.
