The 7.5-hour YouTube speech: No, that’s not a typo. San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom posted a seven-and-a-half-hour “State of the City” address on his YouTube channel. The mammoth speechmaking effort is broken down into 10 segments, each about 45 minutes long and focusing on a different aspect of city governance, like health care and education. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the mayor’s YouTube effort is getting mixed reviews. San Francisco Board of Supervisors member Aaron Peskin told the paper, “Just what I wanted. Somebody imitating Al Gore for 7 1/2 hours.”
