PollStream offers myriad of ways to connect employees internally

How do you keep employees engaged? For some, the answer is rewards. Just offer your employees a chance to win an iPod or a gift card, and they’ll hang around.

Steven Green, CEO of PollStream, doesn’t buy that.

“People in a knowledge-based economy aren’t working to get rewarded with iPods,” he says. “They’re working because they want an opportunity for mastery, autonomy and purpose in the workplace.”

PollStream aims to provide companies and employees with those opportunities through the five enterprise social media tools it offers, all of which can be integrated into a company’s intranet, no matter the platform, Green says.

The tools

PollStream gets its name from The Poll, the company’s robust polling and surveying tool. Lots of companies have polls on their intranets where users can only answer one question. PollStream’s tool doesn’t work that way.

Answering one question opens a window where employees take branching surveys. For some questions, certain answers can mean the survey goes in an entirely different direction than it would if the user had answered otherwise. Some answers prompt users to explain their answer with a comment.
