Welcome to Ragan’s new video series, The Comm’s Leaders Corner! We’re speaking with members of our Communications Leadership Council to learn about the mindset and approach they bring to communications.
For our first episode, we spoke with Wendy Sherwood, vice president of global corporate communications, at CBRE.
“My favorite part about being a communicator is when I have those moments where I’m able to connect the dots for somebody,” she said. “To create shared understanding, to solve a problem, to make their day better, to make their job easier. Those are truly the moments where I feel like, this is why I’m doing this.”
She added that her career in the comms industry has taught her the importance of maintaining the right mindset on the job for sustained success.
“I’ve learned along the way to really just strive for excellence and not worry about perfection because you’re never going to achieve perfection,” Sherwood said. “You’ve got to make good decisions about the level of effort you’re putting in to allow you to really show up in the moments where you need to shine.”
