Study: 42 percent of marketers in social media ‘infancy’

Companies are dabbling in social media, but only 16 percent have fully integrated it into their marketing strategy.

Has your company fully incorporated social media into its marketing strategy? If so, its part of the 16 percent of companies that have.

“Forty-two percent of American companies are still in their infancy when integrating social media in their company,” a study from InSites Consulting says. Download the findings (pdf). Just because companies have a social media profile doesn’t mean they’re using it as part of a strategy. Case in point:

Appropriately, technology, telecom and media companies are far ahead of other companies in terms of social media integration. A quarter have integrated it into their marketing plans.
