Two years ago D.C.-based serial entrepreneur Geoff Livingston launched a company, Livingston Communications, along with a blog, The Buzz Bin.

On Monday, The Social Media Group, a consultancy in Canada, agreed to buy the company and give Livingston a new title, executive vice president of Americas—pretty fancy. The deal will make SMG North America’s largest independent social media marketing and communications firm with 20 employees.

And bloggers love it.

Livingston and SMG chief Maggie Fox are treating the announcement like a movie premier. Pictures of the pair wearing sunglasses—might sound like an odd observation but look at the images and you’ll understand—are peppering blogs. They issued a press release and are doing interviews with bloggers.
