How many times have you heard another communicator or, worse, heard yourself say: “I don’t do numbers! That’s why I went into communications!” You probably laughed while you said it, and thought you were being quite clever.

Next question: How many times have you complained about the fact that you don’t “have a seat at the management table?”

Well, guess what, every time you say that first statement out loud (or even inside your head) you exponentially decrease the likelihood of your ever getting the respect and credibility you need with your senior management to put your butt into one of the chairs at that table!

Here’s a fact—business runs on money! As important as employee engagement, honest communication and corporate social responsibility are to a business, financial stability is what will ultimately allow the business to continue to run. If the business runs out of money, the business is out of business.
