When UPS recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, they decided to have one heck of a party in Seattle, where the company started.

As part of the celebration, the company decided to send 100 of their top employees to Seattle to take part in the festivities. That’s when Andy Norton and the folks in communication had a brilliant idea.

Why not use social media tools—including blogs and video—to give those employees a way to share their experiences with the rest of the work force? That way, everybody could feel like they were a part of the fun.

“It’s not every day that a company celebrates its 100th anniversary,” says Norton. “By having employees who were selected to be a part of this event report and share their experience firsthand, we hoped to communicate the centennial anniversary in a way that celebrated our legacy, honored our accomplishments, and provided a look ahead to our future.”
